For every book, we will issue a soundtrack.
Our latest release is vinyl EP with Blixa Bargeld, Jill Tracy and Stephen O'Malley.
On 23 November 2013, Malört Förlag issued Songs of Decadence a vinyl EP which follows Malört's tradition of producing soundtracks for books. It is conceived as an audial companion to the collected decadent short stories of the nineteenth-century anarcho-Satanist Stanisław Przybszewski (1868–1927). The stories treat topics like the occult, incest, infidelity, bizarre mythology and blasphemy.
The EP contains exclusive tracks by artists that have taken an interest in similarly decadent themes in their work:
- Blixa Bargeld (The Bad Seeds, Einstürzende Neubauten)
- Jill Tracy (the queen of Gothic cocktail lounge music)
- Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Khanate, Burning Witch)
33 rpm 7" EP. Limited edition of 616 numbered copies. Four page lyric sheet. Woodcuts by Kristoffer Nilsson, design by Timo Ketola.
- BLIXA BARGELD: Grand Hotel Tbilisi
- STEPHEN O'MALLEY: Epipsychidion
- JILL TRACY: Totenmesse (The Colour of the Flame)
The EP is for sale – both retail and wholesale – exclusively through Rönnells antikvariat, a reputable Stockholm antiquarian bookshop founded in 1929.
For all orders and questions, please contact email@example.com
The EP is no longer sold as a separate release. The remaining copies will be sold together with the book.

Cazotte’s story follows the young nobleman Alvare as he summons Satan, who appears to him first in the shape of a dreadful camel, then as a spaniel dog and finally as a beautiful androgynous girl. Alvare wrestles with the temptation presented by this mysterious creature. Is the Evil One really as black as he is painted, and can Satan himself fall in love? It has been said that Le Diable amoureux marked the breakthrough for esoteric themes in European literature. It has also been called a proto-queer novel, due to the Devil’s floating gender identity in the tale. It has been labelled morally conservative, and it has been described as a celebration of libertinism. It has been considered an extremely grave and serious meditation on morality, and it has been viewed as a splendid joke. It has been designated a classic of French literature, and it has been abhored as an example of literature at its most trivial. It has been interpreted as a visionary work filled with occult truths, and it has been dismissed as mere nonsense. Just like Cazotte’s Devil, it is many things at once.
